Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad
Aakash Chopra hailed Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad

In the absence of Rohit Sharma, who has been given rest for the first two games against Australia, Ruturaj Gaikwad got the opportunity to feature in the playing XI. The CSK star opener grabbed the opportunity by both hands, as the 26-year-old amassed 71 (77), which featured ten fours. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, touted as the prince of cricket, scored 74 (63).

Chasing 277, 142 runs stand between Gaikwad and Gill set the perfect platform for the Men in Blue. In the latest events, former India opener turned analyst Aakash Chopra commented on the new pairing and remarked that it felt like watching the future of Indian cricket.

“Ruturaj only gets to bat when a player is injured or rested. However, seeing him bat with Shubman Gill felt like the future of India was batting. They are technical and pleasing to the eye. Not going over-aggressive. It was an outstanding partnership.”

Notably, Gaikwad has been named a part of the squad for the first two games, as he will then depart for China to lead the Indian side participating in the ongoing Asian Games.
