Riyan Parag has been in red-hot form in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, slamming a record seven fifties on the trot for Assam

Riding high on his exceptional form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, Riyan Parag may secure his debut call-up for the upcoming T20I series against Australia, as per sources. The five-match series will start on November 23, immediately following the World Cup.

Having notched up a remarkable seven consecutive fifties for Assam, Parag stands out with 510 runs in 10 matches at an impressive average of 85.00 and a strikingly high rate of 182.79 in the current Mushtaq Ali Trophy edition. His outstanding contributions played a pivotal role in Assam’s journey to the semifinals.

Moreover, the Rajasthan Royals player in the IPL has shown his all-round prowess by claiming 11 wickets at an average of 24.54 and an economy rate of 7.29, with a best bowling figure of three for nine using his part-time off-spin. Parag also emerged as the leading run-scorer in the Deodhar Trophy, amassing 354 runs in five games at an average of 88.50 and a strike rate of 136.67, accompanied by two centuries and a fifty. Additionally, he contributed significantly with the ball, taking 11 wickets at an average of 19.09 for East Zone.

“Parag has consistently shone in domestic cricket this season. His all-around skills, along with superb fielding, make him impossible to overlook,” a source said.

The selectors are expected to rest several players currently participating in the World Cup, paving the way for the inclusion of individuals who secured a gold medal for India in the Asian Games in October.
