Angelo Mathews’ timed-out decision is still fresh in the minds of current and former cricketers. Michael Vaughan doesn’t have a problem with what Shakib Al Hasan did, as he followed the rules.

Adam Gilchrist didn’t like it and questioned the need to get the batter out in a controversial manner.

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell came up with an opinion that could have saved the Sri Lankan all-rounder.

“We haven’t done anything of that sort as a team. I think Angelo Mathews should have gone straight to Shakib and told him that the helmet’s strap had come off. I believe Shakib would have allowed him to replace it,” he said on Club Prairie Fire.

For the record, Mathews failed to face the first ball since arriving at the crease within two minutes. Shakib appealed against him, and the umpires declared the batsman out according to the rules.

An argument broke out in the world of cricket. Most former players slammed Shakib for his act and even registered their anger against umpires for not using common sense.

Angelo was ready to play with 5 seconds left to complete two minutes. He saw the strap coming off and signaled towards the dressing room to bring a new one, which resulted in his downfall.
