Glenn Maxwell slammed the first double-hundred of his career off 128 balls. His innings helped Australia beat Afghanistan and secured a place for the five-time champions in the semis of the ICC World Cup 2023.

However, Maxwell was disappointed with his knock. “I was disappointed with my innings on the other day against Afghanistan. My World Cup career strike-rate actually came down because of that. I will have to work to bring it to the same level,” he said on Club Prairie Fire.

His reply stunned Adam Gilchrist, Michael Vaughan, and others present on the podcast.

Meanwhile, Glenn hit 21 fours and 10 sixes at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He will get another chance to showcase his firepower when Australia take on South Africa in the second semi-final on November 16.

Maxwell also hit a hundred against the Netherlands in Delhi.
