Chennai Super Kings ended their group stage games after they registered an emphatic 77 runs win over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 20. With the win, CSK qualified for the playoffs for the record 12th time and finished 2nd on the table.
With the 2nd spot, CSK will face Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier at the Chepauk Stadium on May 23. Soon after the win, CSK bowling coach Dwayne Bravo took to Instagram to take a dig at cricket experts like Jacques Kallis, Irfan Pathan, Mithali Raj and others who, before the start of the tournament, made predictions about the top 2 teams after the group stage where no single expert mentioned Chennai in the list.
Sharing a list of the predictions made by these experts, Bravo wrote, “I guess these predictions were made on April Fools Day @chennaiipl 12 times playoffs, 9 times in finals..4 trophies #RESPECT #RESPECT.”
Besides Chennai and Gujarat, Lucknow Super Giants also qualified for the playoffs after their win over KKR. Further, only Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians are the only three teams still in contention to book a place in the next round.
