Shakib Al Hasan after Bangladesh’s elimination from World Cup

KOLKATA, India (AP) — Shakib’s struggling form with both bat and ball saw the Bangladesh skipper even flying back home to spend time with his mentor, but he conceded he was low on confidence in the tournament.

“We have to think about my batting order,” he said. “I was batting early, didn’t score runs. My confidence was low, too. At this stage, changing too many things seems difficult.”

He failed to replicate the form he showed in the 2019 World Cup in England. Shakib scored over 600 runs in swinging conditions but failed in the ongoing global tournament in India.

He is likely to be removed from the captaincy post after debacle in the ICC World Cup 2023.
