In the latest events, a new qualification process has been approved by the ICC, which states that the top seven teams from the league stage of the ICC World Cup 2023 will qualify for the Champions Trophy which is an eight-team tournament.
Pakistan, being the hosts have qualified for the Champions Trophy, but England need to finish in the top eight by the end of the league stage of the World Cup if they want to feature in the Champions Trophy.
England have never won the Champions Trophy, and missing out on this tournament would be a big loss for them. The last edition took place in 2017, where Pakistan emerged as the champions after they beat India in the finals.
