Shreyas Iyer won his second gold medal after being declared India’s best fielder for the match against Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup 2023.
He took an excellent catch of Sadeera Samarawickrama in the slips on the ball bowled by Mohammed Siraj. Iyer grabbed another of Lanka’s last man, Dilshan Madushanka, on Ravindra Jadeja’s delivery.
His name was declared by Sachin Tendulkar, who also lauded the Men in Blue for their brand of cricket. He urged the players to keep the same energy and give their best for the country.
KL Rahul is the other player who has won the medal twice. Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur have won it once.
For the record, India qualified for the semis after beating the Island Nation by 302 runs.
