IND vs BAN Records
KL Rahul owns 1437 runs in Asia and is 67 shy of the 1500-run mark.

India and Bangladesh are set to face each other in match number 17 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. India have been on a roll, having won three successive matches so far, and are aiming to keep their 100% record intact. Rohit Sharma has led from the front, with Jasprit Bumrah delivering the goods in what has been a stupendous bowling display from the side so far.

Bangladesh are in a spot of bother, having won one and lost two. Bangladesh will hope Shakib Al Hasan is a match fit. He has been seen practicing in the nets after a quad injury suffered against the Kiwis. In terms of the head-to-head record, the two teams have met each other on 40 occasions. India have claimed 31 wins compared to Bangladesh’s eight (1NR). In four ICC World Cup matches, India hold a 3-1 record. Since 2022, Bangladesh have beaten India thrice in four ODIs.

Here, we present the major records which can be broken in the contest.

Mushfiqur Rahim eyes 1000 World Cup runs

Mushfiqur Rahim has been a long-standing servant of the Bangladesh cricket team. Recently, the wicketkeeper-batter surpassed 7500 ODI runs. And now, the veteran is just four runs shy of the 1000-run mark at the ODI World Cup. Rahim has clocked 996 runs at 39.84 with the help of a ton and 8 fifties. He can become just the second Bangladesh player with 1000-plus runs after Shakib.

600 ODI fours and 100 sixes

Rahim, who owns 7525 ODI runs at 37.25, is also closing in on a dual milestone. He needs three maximums to register 100 ODI sixes. Besides, he is also six-fours away from a feat of 600 (594).

Kohli can get to 500 runs at MCA Stadium

India’s Virat Kohli is the top scorer at the MCA Stadium in Pune (ODIs). In seven outings, the 34-year-old has mustered 448 runs at 64.00. He is 52 shy of the 500-run mark and can become the first to do so here. Kohli has clocked two tons and three fifties at the MCA Stadium.

First to 10 fifty-plus scores and 30-plus scalps in IND-BAN ODIs

Versus India, Shakib has scored 751 runs at 37.55 with the help of nine fifties. He can become the first player in India versus Bangladesh ODIs to clock 10 fifty-plus scores. With the ball, the veteran spinner has clocked 29 wickets versus India. He can become the first bowler in India-Bangladesh ODIs with 30-plus scalps.

Shakib can surpass the likes of Javagal Srinath and Kapil Dev

Shakib owns 313 ODI scalps at 29.28. He needs three scalps to steer clear of former Indian pacer Javagal Srinath and become the 12th-highest wicket-taker in ODI history. Srinath took 315 ODI scalps in his career.

Shakib owns 686 wickets in international cricket. He needs two more to get past the legendary Kapil Dev, who took 687 scalps in his career.

First left-arm spinner with this record in World Cup history

Shakib is the leading wicket-taker among left-arm spinners in ODI World Cups. He has so far scalped 39 wickets at 34.82. Shakib is one wicket away to become the first left-arm spinner to claim 40-plus scalps. He can also become the 10th-highest wicket-taker in ODI World Cups by surpassing Imran Tahir (40 scalps).

KL Rahul aiming to clock 1500 ODI runs in Asia

KL Rahul owns 1437 runs in Asia and is 67 shy of the 1500-run mark. He averages 51.32 in Asia with the help of three tons and 10 fifties.
