Gambhir said that Pakistan used to hammer India in a similar fashion, but now the tables have turned

Gautam Gambhir recently weighed in on the Indo-Pak series dynamics following India’s resounding victory over Pakistan in the ODI World Cup clash. Expressing his perspective on the intense rivalry between the two nations, Gambhir shared intriguing insights.

After Rohit Sharma and his team convincingly defeated Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023, Gambhir made a noteworthy statement regarding the potential of a bilateral series between India and Babar Azam’s squad. The victory marked India’s third consecutive win in the tournament and extended their unbeaten streak against Pakistan to eight matches in World Cup history.

In the highly anticipated match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Indian bowlers delivered a collective performance, limiting Pakistan to a modest target of 192 runs. In a swift response, the Indian team chased down the target in just 30.3 overs, securing a comprehensive seven-wicket victory at the world’s largest cricket stadium.

Reflecting on India’s impressive performance against Babar’s team, Gambhir reminisced about a time when Pakistan used to dominate India similarly.

“Especially when playing Pakistan, you rarely use this phrase, ‘hammering with dominance’. Pakistan used to hammer India in this manner for a very long period. India has, however, ruled in recent years. For subcontinental cricket, this is not good. We used to constantly claim that a series between India and Pakistan would be very challenging. But sadly, due to the differences in team strengths now, a series between the two teams won’t be competitive at all,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.
