Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni and Deepak Chahar shared a moment after their team’s victory over the Gujarat Titans in the final match of IPL 2023.
The nail-biting encounter took place on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, where CSK emerged victorious. In the last two balls, CSK’s Ravindra Jadeja’s six and four helped secure the trophy, adding another title to Dhoni’s impressive record.
With this win, Dhoni-led CSK has now matched the Mumbai Indians’ record of five IPL titles. Additionally, Dhoni himself achieved a significant milestone, becoming the joint-most successful captain in the tournament’s history, sharing the honor with Rohit Sharma.
During the Gujarat Titans’ innings, opener Gill and Saha faced a cautious approach against bowlers Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande.
However, Chahar’s performance was marred by two dropped catches in the first five overs, which proved costly for his team. He conceded 31 runs without taking a wicket in his initial three overs.
A video capturing the banter between Chahar and Dhoni has since gone viral across the internet. In the footage, Chahar can be seen requesting an autograph from Dhoni while the CSK captain denies him.
Dhoni even mimics a catching action, teasing Chahar for his dropped catches. Eventually, after a few seconds, Dhoni relents and signs Chahar’s jersey.
