Boult's former MI teammate is his favourite cricketer

New Zealand’s star pacer, Trent Boult, known for wreaking havoc among batters worldwide, has named his current favorite cricketer, and it’s not Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma. Surprisingly, he passed over elite batters like Kane Williamson and Babar Azam to pick his former Mumbai Indians teammate, Jasprit Bumrah.

Boult, a formidable left-arm pacer and a key player for New Zealand in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 in India revealed his choice during a recent conversation with Star Sports. Despite his illustrious career and the opportunity to select from renowned batsmen, Boult mentioned Bumrah as his current favorite cricketer.

“My current favourite cricketer is Jasprit Bumrah,” Boult said Star Sports. His preference for Bumrah comes despite Boult’s experiences with legends during his tenure in the IPL with Mumbai Indians.

The two pacers formed a formidable partnership with the new ball, leaving a lasting impact on opposing batting line-ups. Their collaboration played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians clinching the 2020 IPL title. During that season, Bumrah impressed with 27 wickets in 15 matches, while Boult contributed with 25 wickets.

Bumrah’s recent return to competitive cricket after an 11-month hiatus has been nothing short of spectacular. Currently excelling in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, Bumrah has already claimed six wickets in two matches. In the encounter against Afghanistan on October 11, he dismantled their batting order, taking four wickets for just 39 runs in 10 overs.
