Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary Indian cricketer, has praised the Netherlands for their epic win over South Africa in the 2023 Cricket World Cup

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar showered praise on Scott Edwards’ Netherlands for their impressive 38-run triumph over South Africa in the World Cup 2023 at HPCA Stadium. The match played in Dharamsala, India, showcased a stellar performance by the Dutch side.

“This World Cup is throwing up interesting results! Was nice to see the Netherlands Captain Scott Edwards led from the front with a fighting knock after they were 140/7 at one stage,” the Master Blaster remarked.

Despite rain reducing the match to 43 overs per side, the Dutch team recovered from 140/7, posting 245/8. Edwards played a pivotal role in this recovery, scoring an unbeaten 78 off 69 balls.

Tendulkar also lauded the Dutch team’s fielding efforts.

“What pleased me the most about them in the field was how they put the SA batters under pressure by not giving easy singles,” he added.

This victory marks the second occasion in the past 12 months that the Netherlands has emerged victorious against South Africa in ICC tournaments. Their previous triumph was in the T20 World Cup 2022, where they beat the Proteas with a 13-run win.

“A win and a night to remember for them!” he concluded.

This victory holds significant historical value for Dutch cricket, marking a notable milestone in their international journey.

Following this win, the Netherlands climbed to the eighth position in the points table. They are set to face Sri Lanka in Lucknow for their next challenge.
