Cheteshwar Pujara and Sunil Gavaskar
Pujara failed to score a run on his 100th Test

The 3rd session of day 2 of the 2nd Test between India and Australia is underway, and India are in a state of bother as they trail by 89 runs with just three wickets in hand.

KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and KS Bharat failed with the bat, but the biggest shock of the day was to see Cheteshwar Pujara getting dismissed on a duck in his 100th appearance. Pujara scored 0 (7).

Before the start of the match, eyes were on Pujara, who became the 13th Indian to play 100 Tests for India. The 35-year-old received a guard of honour and was felicitated by Sunil Gavaskar, who presented him with a special cap.

During the felicitation, Gavaskar wished that Pujara becomes the first Indian to score a hundred on their 100th red-ball appearance. But sadly, the Saurashtra star joined the embarrassing list of players who scored a duck in their 100th match.

Notably, Pujara became the 2nd Indian after Dilip Vengsarkar to register a duck. Overall, the list includes Allan Border, Mark Taylor, Stephen Fleming, Alastair Cook, and Brendon McCullum. Fans and Pujara would be hoping to still fulfil Gavaskar’s wish by striking a ton in the 2nd innings.
