In the post-match presentation, Kohli expressed his emotions about equaling the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries.

“It’s overwhelming for me right now. Matching my hero’s record holds a special place in my heart. He’s the epitome of perfection in batting. However, I know I’ll never reach his level of greatness,” Kohli said.

“This is a highly emotional moment for me. I remember my humble beginnings and the days I spent watching him on TV. Just receiving appreciation from him holds immense value for me,” he added.

India dominated the match, posting a formidable total of 326 for 5 on the challenging Kolkata wicket after choosing to bat first. Shreyas Iyer contributed 77 runs, while Rohit Sharma played a quickfire 40-run knock off only 24 balls.

In response, Ravindra Jadeja’s stellar performance with the ball, claiming a five-wicket haul (5 for 33), led to India bundling out South Africa for a mere 83 runs. The comprehensive victory marked a perfect celebration for Kohli’s memorable birthday on the cricket field.
